The 1st European workshop in Implant Dentistry University Education 

Under the auspices of ADEE the 1st European workshop in Implant Dentistry University Education took place between 19-22 June 2008 in Prague, Czech Republic

Attendance at this workshop was by invitation and participation  limited to academics actively involved in the teaching of implant dentistry within university education.   The workshop dealt with undergraduate as well as postgraduate education in implant dentistry.

Over the days of the workshop 100 participants were divided into 5 workings groups, all addressing key areas in the education of implant dentistry.  Prominent individuals recognised for their vast experience and knowledge in this area were chosen as workshop leaders.

The outcomes of this workshop were  disseminated through a consensus paper and specific papers from all 5 working groups  published in the peer reviewed European Journal of Dental Education later in 2008.  

It is ADEE's intention that in addition to ongoing dissemination through our main website and the website set up specifically for this workshop www.dentalimplanteducation.eu that education in implant dentistry becomes a feature Special Interest Group at future Annual ADEE Meetings.  Following on from the SIG at the 2008 and 2009 annual meetings the group will meet agian this year in Amsterdam.
