Dear ADEE friends,
It is my great pleasure and honour to have been elected by you as ADEE President for 2018 – 2019. I would like first to thank those who have preceded me in this prestigious role, and particularly to thank Corrado Paganelli my immediate predecessor and Christina Manzanares Secretary General who have accompanied me with a friendly and patiently manner in my first steps within ADEE. I also wish to acknowledge the work of the past and current members of the Executive Committee, for their role in supporting and strengthening the association, that is today highly respected within Europe and internationally.
In collaboration with my Executive Committee colleagues but also all of you, I would like that ADEE carry a vision for the future of dental education in Europe:
Educate oral health professionals who are able to work in a global, open and constantly evolving world and to adapt their practice to new oral health needs, scientific and technological innovations and changing health care frameworks.
This implies that our graduates embrace an enlarged vision of oral health and master a variety of knowledge, skills and competences. ADEE thus needs to continue tirelessly to promote excellence and harmonisation of dental education in Europe, namely through the development of high quality, competency-based educational approaches. We also aim at being a key provider of information, support and expertise on dental education to other European level dental bodies.
We hope the Association will continue to grow from strength to strength. Our Scientific meetings will continue to be the focus of our annual activities, and these will be revitalized to meet member needs. In August 2018 ADEE visits Oslo and in 2019 we travel to Berlin. We are also planning a second joint meeting with our colleagues of ADEA in April 2019 in Brescia.
We encourage schools to consider all our programs to re-engage with the ADEE school visit and LEADER progamme to assist them develop new and innovative teaching practice sof the highest standards.
