Priv.-Doz. Dr Ina Schüler is head of Section of Preventive and Paediatric Dentistry at Jena University Hospital, Germany. She finished her Habilitation in 2018 at Jena University Hospital and the Master of Medical Education (MME-D) in 2017 at University Heidelberg. Her special educational research interests are Feedback, Assessment, Chairside Teaching and Entrustable Professional Activities in Dentistry. Ina's medical resaerch focusses on oral health in patients with special healthcare needs.

Stefan Rupf

Stefan graduated in dentistry in Leipzig in 1994, going on to complete his Dissertation and Habilitation there is 1997 and 2006 respectively. in 2012 he became an Adjunct (apl.) Professor, Saarland University where he has continued to work to this date. in 2019 he became a Specialist of the German Society for Conservative Dentistry (DGZ) and in 2020 inaugrated as Professor "Synoptic Dentistry“ Saarland University. He completed his Masters in Medical Education in 2021 and in 2023 became Saarland’s Appointee for Dental Examinations, Head of the Exam Boards.

Simona-Georgiana Schick

Dr. med. dent. Simona-Georgiana Schick, MME, is Senior Consultant at the Department of Conservative Dentistry, Heidelberg University Hospital, and has been Head of HeiCuDent Department at the Heidelberg Medical Faculty since 2024.

Her work focuses on the strategic advancement of dental education and the didactically meaningful integration of digital technologies into teaching, practical training, and assessment formats. She has been instrumental in driving the implementation of the new German licensing regulations (ZApprO) at the Heidelberg University and is a core member of the HeiCheck development team, contributing to conception and further development of digital solutions supporting teaching, assessment and documentation. The aim of her work is to integrate digital innovations not as isolated tools, but as part of modern, competency-based and clinically relevant educational concepts.

Luis Wettach

Software engineer and software product owner

Luis Wettach, M.Sc. Data and Computer Science, is a software engineer and software product owner at Heidelberg University, Heidelberg Medical Faculty (HeiCuDent). Since 2021, he has led the development of HeiCheck, a mobile and web-based platform designed to support the organisation, assessment, and documentation of clinical training in dental education.

He focuses his work on the full-stack development of digital solutions for medical and dental education, particularly mobile applications that use modern web and iOS technologies. HeiCheck originated during his early involvement as a trainee in software development and was further developed throughout his Master’s studies into a production-ready system currently used in clinical teaching.
