Session synopsis: 
This workshop shares findings from recent focus groups exploring how dental students understand and experience resilience during training.

Participants will engage with real student quotes, reflect on what these insights reveal about learning environments and teaching practices, and work collaboratively to develop practical, achievable interventions that can support student resilience within dental schools.

Ruby is a Clinical lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff university (UK), she has a keen interest in dental education and received the ADEE early career educator award in 2024 . She is currently undertaking a PhD exploring resilience in Oral health education.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Interpret key themes from student focus group research in relation to resilience
  2. Analyse how these themes reflect and impact their own learning environments and teaching practices
  3. Co-design practical interventions to strengthen resilience within their own institutions
