Session synopsis: 
There are so many dental journals to choose from – how should you choose? What should you look for? What support is available for you? How can you ensure your paper gets in front of people and makes a difference?

This interactive session will guide participants past the first stages of the publishing process and through the decisions you as an author will need to make along the way.

Associate Editor
BDJ Portfolio

David is the Associate Editor of the BDJ Portfolio. Within that role David is the Editor of BDJ Student and BDJ In Practice. He graduated from UCLan in 2006 and has a background in journalism and has built a career in dentistry, having previously worked for the Oral Health Foundation.

David brings a deep knowledge of the publishing process, having guided authors from ideas through to publication across the BDJ Portfolio and across the publishing sector.

Cristina Manzanares

Professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology
University of Barcelona

Cristina graduated in Medicine in 1985 in the Autonomous University of Barcelona and then moved to Louvain (Belgium) where she obtained her PhD by the Catholic University of Louvain in 1988. Associated Professor of the newly founded Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Barcelona in 1989, she was promoted to Professor Titular of Human Anatomy and Embryology in 1992. Her main research interest lies in Bone biology, especially related to craniofacial development and osteointegration, and in the improvement of the teaching of Anatomy and Embryology in dental education.

Cristina was Secretary General as well as European Affairs Officer for ADEE.
