Session synopsis:
This interactive workshop invites dental educators and curriculum leaders to critically reflect on how we teach and assess the skills required to support patient engagement and effective self-care within the undergraduate dental curriculum.
Participants will consider where and when these skills are introduced, revisited and developed; whether students have sufficient opportunities to move from knowledge to practice and authentic clinical application; and how progression towards competence is supported. The session will explore the educational approaches and behavioural constructs that underpin effective learning, alongside the role of observation, feedback and assessment in signaling what we value.
