Add to Calendar
Timezone:

UTC +1

Duration:

90 minutes

Venue:

WSR 2

Type 2: Organised, planned and delivered by a subgroup, special interest group, community of practice of ADEE
Session synopsis:
Working with ‘students as partners’ for co-design within and outwith curricula can be a rewarding educational process, with the potential to yield significant benefits for educators and students. This method of educational practice continues to develop in concept and has been adopted by many institutions with vastly different approaches. In line with this continued adoption, the evidence base has become well established.

Previous ADEE sessions have examined key areas as defined by Healey (2019) such as teaching learning & assessment, scholarship of teaching and learning, and curriculum design. These workshops have generated interesting discussions relating to the theory, potential benefits, methodology and conceptual applications.

This session will explore the final elements of adoption: implementation and evaluation. Current applications within dental schools will be presented, including research opportunities and multi-centre collaboration.

There will then be an Interactive discussion where attendees will have the opportunity to discuss curricular integration, and how this method of teaching can address learning outcomes.

Learning Outcomes:
  • To outline the developments in ‘Students as partners’ with particular attention given to ongoing sustainability and evaluation within presenting universities
  • To initiate discussions relating to curriculum integration and outcome mapping with reference to frameworks such as that outlined by the Graduating European Dentist (ADEE 2017, 2025), as well as other appropriate frameworks
  • To elicit delegates’ perspectives on students’ partnerships in research and student engagement
