About Lublin

Lublin is a city with over 700 years of history. Thanks to its location on trade routes, it became a place of meeting of Western and Eastern cultures, as well as of intercultural integration and groundbreaking events. Originally an early medieval stronghold, Lublin grew into a vital trading and cultural crossroads in eastern Poland, reaching its Renaissance peak in 1569 when the historic Union of Lublin was signed there, creating the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. For centuries, the city has been a symbol of multiculturalism, which today is reflected in its historic architecture, regional cuisine and festivals referring to the city’s history and traditions.

After centuries of prosperity followed devastating wars, partitions under foreign empires, and a brief period as Poland's post-World War I capital, the city suffered catastrophic loss during World War II with the destruction of its large Jewish community and the establishment of the Majdanek concentration camp. Lublin has rebuilt itself into a vibrant, modern regional hub celebrated for its historic Old Town and major universities.

Today, Lublin is the eighth-largest city in Poland and the second-largest city of historical Lesser Poland. It is the capital and the centre of Lublin Voivodeship with a population of 336,339 (December 2021).

Year after year, Lublin is becoming a destination of choice for tourists from both Poland and abroad. This is not surprising – Lublin attracts visitors with the unique atmosphere of its Old Town, local specialities and a rich history that can be felt at every step, as well as a wide cultural offering, which contributed to the city being awarded the title of European Capital of Culture 2029.

ADEE is very much looking forward to ADEE 2027 in Lublin - See you there!

About the Medical University of Lublin

The Medical University of Lublin can trace its history back to 1944, when the Faculty of Medicine became part of the newly founded Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. In 1950, the faculty separated from MCSU to establish the Medical Academy as an independent institution. Over the years, new areas of research and education were added, including nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry. Back in 2001, the English Language Division was set up to offer English-language education in medicine to students from all over the world. In 2008, the Medical Academy transformed into a university and assumed the name Medical University of Lublin. Now offering programmes in medicine, midwifery, nursing and dentistry, with over almost 7,000 students over 18 majors, the university's focus remains firmly fixed on medical education.

The campus of the Medical University of Lublin is located in a district called “Chodźkowo”. Here, you’ll find the modern Medical Simulation Center equipped with advanced medical simulators, a sports complex with outdoor fields and an impressive sports and entertainment hall at its center, student dormitories, as well as educational and research buildings with lecture rooms, training rooms, and laboratories.
