Session synopsis:

Attendees at the FEHDD and 'Lage landen' meetings are invited to join the ADEE executive committee and regional council for an welcome reception provided by the Leuven Mayor.

The session will be held in the gothic splendour of Leuven City Hall in the heart of the city. Join us for some networking and drinks and afterwards explore the heart of the old city and the busy social district on our door step.

Professor of Restorative Dentistry

Trinity College Dublin

Brian O’Connell is currently Dean of Health Sciences at Trinity College, Dublin, with a special interest biomedical education. He co-leads the oral health component of the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), in addition to research on treatment outcomes and the use of new technology in oral health care. Professor O’Connell is a core member of the European Platform for Better Oral Health, and President-Elect of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR).

Katleen Vandamme

Professor of Restorative Dentistry – Implant Prosthodontics

KU Leuven, Belgium

Katleen is professor of Restorative Dentistry of the Department of Oral Health Sciences at the KU Leuven Belgium, where she is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in oral implantology. She also holds the position of Coordinator of the Institute of Osseointegration KU Leuven. Her research interests include evidence-based dentistry, mechanobiology in implant osseointegration, bone biology (in particular impaired bone conditions such as diabetes), skeletal tissue engineering, and teaching modalities and analytics. Katleen is president of BVOI/SBIO (Belgische Vereniging voor Orale Implantologie/Société Belge de l’Implantologie Orale), Education Delegate of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) BeLux. Katleen is a member of ADEE's regional council and is the chair of this year’s ADEE local organising committee.
