Session synopsis:

In 2016 at ADEE’s annual meeting in Barcelona the FEHDD launched its ‘competency framework for aspiring deans and heads of dental schools’. As we approach the 10 year anniversary of this milestone in 2026 we find ourselves in a dramatically altered landscape. It seems prudent to revisit this framework document and the knowledge, skills attitude and behaviours needed to be an effective Dean of an Oral Health Professional’s school. During 2024 FEHDD will provide two workshops to evolve an updated competence document for Deans and Heads of schools. Both kindly supported by the FEHDD partners in Colgate.

The first of these sessions will be online on Thursday 20th June at 12:00 UK Time. At this session we will re-present the competency framework for aspiring deans and heads of dental schools and present our rational for the need to update this in a post covid, AI, sustainability focused environment in a changing oral health education landscape. At the session delegates will be encouraged to offer suggestions for updating. We hope you can join us and help us shape the activities of our in person session in Leuven this September.
