Applications now open for the ADEE 'Advancement of Dentistry in Society Scholarship' kindly supported by GSK

ADEE is delighted to announce that thanks to the continued support of our corporate partners GSK we are able to delivery the 2020 Dentistry in Society Scholarship. With €5,000 funding from GSK, we will again be able to recognise two institutions as examples of best practice in the integration of the concepts of Dentistry in Society within the curriculum.

UCL Dental Public Health Group announce establishment of a Scholarship for overseas applicants to their MSc Dental Public Health Programme

ADEE Members will be interested to hear that UCL, Dental Public Health Group has announced the establishment of a new Aubrey Sheiham Scholarship for overseas applicants to the UCL MSc Dental Public Health Programme. This new MSc Scholarship has been established in honour of the late Professor Aubrey Sheiham, an inspirational dental public health scholar, and is funded through very generous personal donations from Dr Garry Rayant and Dr Kathy Fields, and Dr Helena Cronin. In the 2020-21 academic year a £5,000 Scholarship will be awarded.

Call for applications ADEE Oral B Inter/Intra Professional Excellence in Dental Education Award

With the continued support of our Platinum Partner Procter and Gamble ADEE is pleased to invite applications for the ADEE ORAL B Intra/Inter-professional Educator Award. This award is aimed at fostering and developing academic careers within the Oral Health Education environment particularly those who are engaged in inter-professional education of the dental professions.

Dentsply Sirona continues support of the ADEE Excellence in Dental Education Awards Cermony

Thanks to the continued support of our Platinum Partner Dentsply Sirona we are pleased to advised that we are taking the ADEE 2020 Excellence in Dental Education Awards Online. We now call on interested individuals of ADEE member institutions to apply for this year’s Early and Mature Career awards. This year’s awards will be presented at an online awards ceremony kindly supported by Dentsply Sirona in the early autumn and recipients will also be presented with their formal awards in Strasbourg 2021 should they attend the 2021 ceremony.

Updated Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (ONJ) resources availble to ADEE members

ADEE members now have access to updated Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (ONJ) resources being made freely available by our Corporate Partner AMGEN. The resources include informtaional leaflets in a selection of languages along with a series of four informational videos discussing 'what is ONJ and who is at risk?', 'Handling patient questions about ONJ', 'ONJ and bone-targeted agents' and 'ONJ Advice for clinicians'. You can now access these resources on the dedicated ADEE AMGEN ONJ page. Over the coming months additional resources and webinars will be provided.

 

European College of Gerodontology (ECG) to host 30th annual congress of the ECG on October 9-10

The 30th annual congress of the European College of Gerodontology ECG will be held virtually on October 9-10. Hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, this year's congress entitled “healthy smiles, longer lives” highlights the importance of oral health for general health and quality of life during older age. A call for abstracts is currently open with a closing date of July 10, 2020.

The 2020 General Assembly meeting of ADEE will be held virtually on Friday 9th October 2020 at 16:00 hrs UK Time

Due to physical distancing, travel restrictions and other COVID-19 related societal implications, the 2020 General Assembly of the Association for Dental Education in Europe will now be facilitated via virtual meeting technology. The session will commence at 16:00 UK time on Friday 9th October 2020. 

Over the coming weeks, registered ADEE member institution key contacts will receive an email concerning their designated meeting and voting attendees. It is important that this email is actioned to enable your institutions participation in the meeting. In order to facilitate a smooth meeting, a number of preparatory emails including links to meeting papers, video presentations etc will be circulated to these registered attendees in advance.

 

COVID19 PPE digital teaching materials

Exonicus, Inc. and CoMotion Labs, University of Washington in collabroration with ADEE member Rigas Stradins University have released open access COVID19 PPE digital teaching materials. The materials are available in poster, video and virtual reality simulation and can be viewed at the the following link.
