Preparing for the second stakeholder meeting

Meeting of the GED Stakeholders

25th February Copenhagen, Denmark

We are very much looking forward to our second stakeholder gathering in 12 months. From the outset we would like to sincerely thank our hosts the Danish Dental Council and of course our colleagues at the Council of European Dentists for facilitating the logistics of the meeting

Consensus and collaboration are key values to the work of ADEE and we hope that following the successful meeting last February in Dublin that the way forward for the GED will see greater stakeholder collaboration as we work on our shared understanding of the need for change in the undergraduate dental curriculum.

It is clear that within the EU institutions, there is a real desire for change - however, it is also clear that the institutions would be receptive to the enabling of a multiparty shared opinion. We believe that our work together last February in Dublin took a large step forward in enabling a shared stakeholder consensus. While reaching consensus on this is difficult, we truly believe that the important first step is with all stakeholders having a shared understanding of the key issues that must be addressed.

Our aspiration for the day is three-fold:

  • to better understand which education and training approaches stakeholders place greatest value on, when considering a Graduating European Dentist
  • advance discussions and consensus on clinical requirements
  • to evolve a shared position, and plan of action for the next steps
