Association for Dental Education in Europe

Learning together to improve oral health and quality of life

May 2020

Covid-19 European Dental Education’s Immediate Response.

Last month we sent a questionnaire to gain insight into our member’s immediate response to the COVID 19 Pandemic. With over a 100 responses the ADEE executive is most appreciative of your engagement in this questionnaire. You can read the Executive commentary on the findings of the questionnaire here, review the various charts and tables here and interact with a map of responding dental institutions here.

We have recently issued a second questionnaire to members exploring their expectations around the need for changes in the clinical teaching environment in response to COVOD-19 and will share the findings of this in due course. If your school has not received an invitation to partake in this second survey please contact judith.francis@adee.org.

Upcoming events

While ADEE 2020 Strasbourg has been postponed to August 2021, we are delighted to announce that we are continuing to deliver a number of our key annual activities thanks to kind support of our corporate and academic partners. O-Health-Edu: A KA2 Erasmus Strategic Partnership

ADEE is proud to be the dissemination partner for a nine member partnership delivering the Erasmus Plus KA2 Strategic Partnership project entitled O-Health-Edu. This project is driven by three overarching strategic objectives:

  1. Provide a diagnosis of the current situation of dental education in Europe;
  2. Enable a shared understanding and a common vision of Oral Health Professionals' Education priorities for the future among all European stakeholders and policymakers;
  3. Define priorities for a strategic vision as well as support changes for oral health professionals’ education in 2030.

These aims are delivered through 13 intellectual outputs. Read more here on the project website and follow progress on our social media channels https://twitter.com/ohealthedu, https://www.facebook.com/ohealthedu

ADEE 2020 General Assembly

In response to international travel and local governmental restrictions and guidelines on physical distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ADEE Executive has taken the decision to deliver the ADEE 2020 general assembly online. While this will be a very different approach, it is important that our business and compliance matters continue to be addressed.

In the coming weeks registered institutional members' primary and secondary contacts will receive an email from the ADEE office outlining the date, time and process that will enable your institution to participate. Please ensure that you add Denis and Judith’s emails to your safe list so as to ensure you can receive this important mailing. All meeting paper will be provided online approximately two weeks before the date of the meeting. Further information will issue shortly and online at the ADEE newsfeed.

Salud Community: Get Help, Give Help

The team at Salud have created an online community to facilitate Salud users across 5 continents, and associated groups to connect and support each other during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Share your COVID-19 challenges and help others to solve theirs.

Call for participation by sister organisations into COVID-19 related issues

In recent weeks we have received an increasing number of requests from members and sister associations to share their calls for participation into COVID-19 related surveys and research. Rather than bombard members with emails we have decided to host these on our webpages and share them via the e-news system, thereby allowing interested members to participate at their will. Where possible the closing date is clearly displayed within the text. Please note these surveys are NOT validated by ADEE and that ADEE is simply facilitating distribution.
