Statement Concerning ADEE 2020 postponement

The ADEE executive and office have been closely monitoring the evolution of the Covid 19 pandemic throughout Europe. The short and medium term impact of this global crisis and its impact on dental education is likely to carry on into the period leading upto the new academic year. As Schools adapt their programmes, change their methods and relocate their human resources to address the new challenges posed by COVID-19, ADEE finds that maintaining the normal timeline of its activities would not be a sensible and reasonable thing to do. In this context and following considerable discussion with our colleagues in Strasbourg we have taken what we feel is a necessary decision to postpone ADEE2020 Strasbourg. It will now be delivered in Strasbourg August 2021.

European Dental Education’s Immediate Response to COVID-19

In light of the increasing impact of COVID-19 on Dental Education, ADEE issued a short questionnaire to ADEE member dental schools to assess their immediate response to the crisis. Open to responses from 25th of March to the 5th of April 2020 the questionnaire focused on core issues impacting the practice and assessment of dental education. While the findings are being interpreted for inclusion in a published article in the European Journal of Dental Education which will be available in Open Access shortly you can in the meantime view an interactive map of the responding Dental Schools here.
