Room allocation: Auditorium and Hall Mallorca
This evenings plenary session commences with a key note presentation by Prof Yolanda González Cid from the University of the Balearic Islands, Spain who shares with us the increasing role played by artificial intelligence has in oral health education and indeed our every day lives. Prof González Cid shares with us her views on AI explaining it as a branch of computer sciences that could be a complementary asset, to assist dentists and specialists in their practices and education. The road to successful integration of AI into dentistry will necessitate training in dental and continuing education.
This session aims to demystify artificial intelligence showing how one of its sub-categories, deep neural networks, works and how they can be used in clinical applications in dentistry. In particular, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have shown promising ability to detect and identify anatomical structures, for detecting and diagnosis of dental caries or to aid in the clinical decision-making process, to name a few.
Following a questions and answers session delegates are invited to join us for a reception in the exhibition hall and for the presentation of the 2022 ADEE Excellence in Dental Education Awards.
