ADEE Strasbourg: Welcome

ADEE 2020 Strasbourg: ‘Networking to advance dental education’ Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th August 2020
For ADEE 2020, our annual meeting returns to ADEE’s birthplace Strasbourg, France. The Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Strasbourg is honoured and excited to host this year’s meeting theme will focus on ‘Networking to advance dental education’.

Strasbourg is the capital city of the Grand Est region of France (formerly Alsace). Located near the German border, the city has been disputed throughout history but has simultaneously been a cultural bridge between France and Germany for centuries. The resulting environs of Strasbourg is a cultural and architectural blend of both German and French influences.

Strasbourg is without question one of the most distinct cities within Europe. So much so our historic city centre, the Grande Île (Grand Island), was classified a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988, the first time ever such an honour was placed on an entire city centre. While here make sure not to miss a walk around our city and make sure you visit our Gothic Cathédrale ‘Notre-Dame’ with daily light shows from its astronomical clock and sweeping views of the Rhine River from partway up its 142m spire.

Strasbourg is one of the de facto three main capitals of the European Union (Brussels and Luxembourg being the others).

It is the seat of several European institutions, such as the Council of Europe, European Court of Human Rights, European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines, the European Audiovisual Observatory, the Eurocorps, as well as the European Parliament and the European Ombudsman. We are delighted to announce that we have managed to secure an invitation to the Parliament building for a portion of our meeting and look forward to having some interesting discussions and sessions there.

The Faculty of Dental Medicine in chairing the Local Organising Committee have crafted an interesting mix of speakers and sessions as well as venues and experiences so that you can be immersed in Strasbourg for our visit. We hope to showcase not only our history but also highlight the innovation there is in the region and the power networking can have in evolving dental education.
