DME teaching survey

This survey* aims to explore your experiences, and your views on, the teaching of deep margin elevation(DME).

We are particularly interested in your opinion around procedures and management of deep sub-gingival or sub-cementoenamel junction margins. We value your opinion on this topic, even if you do not carry out or teach these procedures yourself. This survey is a collaboration between The European Federation of Conservative Dentistry (EFCD) and The Association of Dental Education in Europe (ADEE). The data will be used to guide teaching policy and to generate published consensus.

*It should take around 10-15 minutes to complete and it will be conducted anonymously and has received ethical approval from Newcastle University (ref: 62917/2023).

Deep margin elevation (DME) can be defined as follows:
A distinct technical step involving the addition of restorative material to a deep sub-gingival cavity, with the aim of raising the margin to simplify the subsequent restoration of supra-gingival anatomical form, which commonly involves a contact point or area.
