Dear Dental Education Colleagues,
On behalf of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and in particular its dental faculty, I am honoured to invite you to the 45th Annual Meeting of ADEE.
We welcome you to our beautiful and historic city - Berlin, a city that never sleeps. There is always something to do and see here in Berlin 24/7. So, whether is history, sightseeing, culture, dining or entertainment, Berlin has something to offer, and we guarantee you will have an enjoyable visit.
Our meeting venue, The Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus is itself steeped in history, originally constructed by the Berlin Medical Association (BMG) and the German Surgical Society (DGCH) 1914 it became the home of the German Surgical Society. From 1949 to 1976 it became the “People’s Chamber”, the Parliament of the GDR. Located at the heart of Charité Universities Central (Mitte) Hospital Campus and close to Berlin Central Station it proves to be a perfectly located venue for ADEE.
Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, is one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. Having marked its 300-year anniversary in 2010, Charité is now one of the largest employers in Berlin, employing 13,760 staff. Extending over four campuses, and Charité close to 100 different Departments and Institutes, which make up a total of 17 different Charité Centres. Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin represents a single medical faculty, which serves both Humboldt Universtität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin.
Our dental programme (based at campus Benjamin Franklin) comprises 10 semesters, is divided into pre-clinical (5 semesters) and clinical dentistry (5 semesters). The course options offered range from microscopic anatomy to surgical techniques. We look forward to hosting the welcome reception at our dental campus on Wednesday 21st August for a very German welcome and a tour of our teaching facilities.
Our meeting theme, ‘equipping our students to dentists of the future’ explores sub themes; the changing demographics of patients and their expectations; changing perception on the role of dentistry in medicine; and technological and other innovative impacts. We offer a blend of speakers, workshops, special interest groups and importantly networking opportunities for you to explore these themes with your colleagues.
We very much look forward to welcoming you all to Berlin this August.
Best regards,
Dr. Sebastian Paris
