Please join us for this 5th session of our COP in Professionalism. We will be continuing, from our past successful sessions, the conversation around key themes essential to the teaching and learning of Professionalism. The purpose of this session is to share the results of the COP’s scholarly activity this past year establishing foundations essential for colleagues involved in the teaching of Professionalism for all members of the Dental Team.
We will in particular concentrate on establishing a consensus on how best to evidence that a graduate to be is a safe beginner in Professionalism. This stems from the Dublin COP in Professionalism session and discussion with the ADEE membership attending. There was a clear need and interest in working together to investigate what is being done on the ground and how to support colleagues establishing this safe beginner status using more objective means where so far subjectivity has dominated the conversation. We have colleagues from all over the ADEE membership attending and then joining us to research professionalism. And the number of collaborators is increasing year on year.
The session will include:
Overview of COP activity in past year including discussion on publications submitted and key take away points:
- Meta-Ethnographic Analysis: Impact of interactions in Fostering Oral health Professional Practice
- AI in Oral Health Curriculum Consensus
- Safe beginner in Professionalism a review of the literature and regulatory landscape
Report from the different 3 working groups on Evidencing/Evaluating the Safe Beginner in Professionalism project
- Researching student and staff perspective on readiness as a soon to be newly graduate in terms of professionalism
- Research on current mechanism in institutions to verify that soon to be newly graduates are fit for practice in terms of professionalism
- Research on how we flag lapses in professionalism and remediate: the conscientious index as a measure of our students professionalism
Open discussion.
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
· Identify indications of a meta-ethnographic analysis
· Identify the Impact of AI on Oral Health Education and Professionalism
· Discuss how to evaluate/evidence a safe beginner in professionalism
