Fostering a culture of resilience and support for mental health

In a world of continuous change and uncertainty, there are so many benefits to embedding a holistic approach to wellbeing in the dental school, and educating about mental health.

This session will provide relevant background on potential mental health challenges that could affect students and help develop a framework for fostering a culture which prioritizes their mental health and wellbeing

In an interactive and inclusive atmosphere, drawing on Dean’s experiences and knowledge, a few key topics will be discussed:

  • How to maximize your own resilience and wellbeing as a leader
  • Promoting wellbeing in your dental school (both physical and mental health) to challenge the myths and stigma
  • Recognising the most common forms of youth mental challenges: Stress, Anxiety and Depression
  • How to support students displaying signs of poor wellbeing
  • How to encourage an organizational culture of support and priority for mental health

This will be followed by a short update by Prof Nagy on the Digital Dentistry Society international (DDS). This short presentation aims to introduce DDS and the possible collaboration with university education at all levels, which will definitely determine dentistry in the future, consequently our higher dental education at present.
