Terese Bird

Educational Designer and MSc Lecturer
University of Leicester Medical School, UK

Terese Bird has been Leicester Medical School’s Educational Designer since 2015, spearheading mobile learning, electronic assessment, and clinical e-portfolios in the first UK medical school to adopt a one-iPad-per-student programme. For this work, the University of Leicester awarded Terese their first Digital Excellence Award and her work was further nominated in 2019 and 2021. Terese founded the staff-student society Medical Research into Future Technology in 2016, researching and innovating award-winning projects alongside students until the present. Terese researches and implements Artificial Intelligence, Immersive Reality, open educational practice, social media and virtual worlds in higher education. Terese earned her MA in International Education from University of Leicester and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Emad Nosair

Assistant Professor of Anatomy
University of Sharjah, UAE

Dr. Emad Nosair is an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at the University of Sharjah, where he has been a founding faculty member of the College of Medicine since 2005. He earned his MBBS with honors from Ain Shams University, Egypt, followed by an MSc in Anatomy from the same institution. He completed his PhD at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey (USA). Later, in 2015, he attained an MSc in Leadership in Health Professions Education from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in collaboration with the University of Sharjah, graduating with First Class Honors.

With over 30 years of academic experience, Dr. Emad has played a pivotal role in establishing and enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate anatomy education within an integrated PBL, and he also constructed the elective course “History of Medical and Health Sciences.” for medical health sciences students.

As an educator, he has contributed to shaping the college's PBL curriculum and assessment systems and policies, serving as Chair of the Student Assessment and the Clinical Skills Committees. Representing The University of Sharjah, he is a scientific committee member responsible for constructing the first Emirati Competencies Framework for Medical Education (Emirates MEDs) document and its Assessment Guide. The CMHS, UAEU, CAA, and NIHS host this project. Additionally, as a member of the Faculty Development Committee of the Medical Education Unit, he delivers many workshops about assessment planning, blueprinting, constructing, and reviewing high-quality written exam items, as well as interpreting item analysis using the ExamSoft platform.

Dr. Emad's research interests span clinical, surgical, and radiological anatomy and medical education, focusing on self-directed learning, assessment, educational environment, and student workload in PBL programs. An active peer reviewer for educational journals and anatomical textbooks.

Guided by a student-centered educational philosophy, Dr. Emad is dedicated to developing students' critical reasoning, problem-solving, and self-autonomy skills, preparing them to excel in the 21st century.
