We are aware of an ongoing scam that is attempting to pass itself off as coming from our president Prof Brian O'Connell or other members of the ADEE Executive.
Similar to other scam emails that often tell a story to trick you into sending money to someone in distress, in this one the scammer requests money posing as Prof Brian O'Connell or other members of the ADEE executive. This version of the scam presents as being delivered from the person’s own email address however it is ‘spoofed’ (made to appear as though it comes from the victim’s email address when it has actually been sent from the scammer’s email address). In this case the messages are coming from the following sender: presidenttanj@gmail.com, boardsspresidentsss2024@gmail.com
It is important to note that this has nothing what so ever to do with Prof O'Connell or ADEE, is not endorsed by ADEE and it is nothing but an attempt to attain your bank details and defraud you. Do not engage with this under any circumstance.
We also wish to point out that all the individual who have contacted us are not on our mailing list, thus the individual is likely getting information from other individuals email contact list and we advise you run anti-viral software on your computer and email regularly.
Be vigilant online. ADEE executive members or staff will never seek support or money from you for ADEE related activity. Never pay anything to individuals purporting to be related to ADEE without contacting the ADEE office in the first instance to validate the claim.
