Session synopsis: 

With a systematic concept which involves patient, dentist and dental technician, you can achieve predictable results and satisfied patients. Materials and devices, which allow an economic and stress-free workflow, form the base for the Ivotion system. During this 1 hr lecture, Dr Rupert Austin will highlight several applications of the Ivotion digital denture workflow which allows you to allows you to quickly, accurately and cost effectively create stunning dentures in as little as 2 clinical appointments. Ivotion offers a practical combination of a systematic workflow and high-quality materials for the fabrication of functional and aesthetic dentures.

Programme: 
Dr Rupert Austin will explain how the Ivotion digital denture workflow using Monolithic Denture Technology, offers a practical combination of a systematic approach and high quality materials for the fabrication of functional and aesthetic dentures.

The predictable fabrication of removable prostheses through digital processes provides today's Clinician and laboratory unique opportunities to enhance the quality of the services they provide. The lecture will aim to walk you step by step through the clinical processes as well as the digital design module featuring Ivotion Monolithic Denture and denture tooth libraries. This design module coupled with state-of-the-art mills and mill-able materials round out a total system approach for delivery of a predictable, high quality denture prosthetic.

Rupert Austin

Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Prosthodontics
King’s College London's Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences

Dr Austin is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Prosthodontics at King’s College London's Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences. The Discipline of Prosthodontics focuses on aesthetic restoration and replacement of natural teeth using state-of-the-art technologies for the design and manufacture of dental restorations, including aesthetic veneers, crowns, bridges and implants for oral rehabilitation. Dr Austin is also Service Lead for Digital Dentistry at Guy’s and St.Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Dental Directorate.

Dr Austin graduated Dentistry with Honours from the University of Manchester (2006), Dental Foundation Training with a Membership at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2008), a PhD in Enamel Erosion (2011) and Specialty Registrar Training in Prosthodontics with a Masters in Clinical Dentistry with Distinction and Membership in Prosthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2015). He was appointed an Honorary Consultant in Prosthodontics at Guy's and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2017, since when he has been the Service Lead for Digital Dentistry.

  • Gain an improved understanding how digital dentures can be used in practice
  • Anatomical first impressions using 2 part impression system
  • Preliminary bite registration with the Centric Tray
  • Functional impressions recording the centric position with the Gnathometer CAD
  • Understand the correct use of the facebow recording with the UTS CAD-Transferbow
  • Tips on assessment and adjustment of final dentures at delivery
  • Gain an understanding of the basics of the Ivotion Digital Denture system
  • Learn the reference denture technique
